Has anyone here 4 classes back to back before? It seems to be one of the only ways I can make my schedule work and they are major required classes so I dont want to fuck them up. I just want to know if it will work out in the end? Here's an Aston for your troubles.
Also, this is what it would look like.
ACC 213: 10:00-11:15
FIN 320: 11:30-12:45
ECO 312: 1:00-2:15
ECO 300: 2:30-3:45

I've done it freshman year and the answer is no. You might get to class in time but your brain is dead after the second class.

No, but it's easily the easiest way to do college. It's so much more convenient.

I've had this schedule before. It isn't too bad. If you don't have trouble sitting through three hour lectures this shouldn't be an issue for you. I assume this is a 3x a week schedule? I've never had an hr 15 class before. All my classes were 1hr / 1.5hr / 3hr.

Twice a week every Tuesday/Thursday.

I have had 5 before, I honestly like to stack them at the beginning of the week. Last semester I went to school at 11:30 and my last class ended at 9pm. With a 2 and a half hour break some where in there. It isn't too bad, because all your other days will be freer!
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:08 |

Agreed. I feel like it'd be a bit much, especially considering they're important classes.

Can't be done.
Not enough time to drink at 12:45.

And our classes seem to be weird. Our options are 50min, 1hr 15, 1hr 50, and 3hr.

Is dat blue real or is it a wrap?
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:10 |

Yup, I have 4 periods straight, from 8 am to 7:30 pm tomorrow, with 90 minutes for lunch at 12:25.

When I was in school I certainly had 4 classes in a day, but not back to back.
Are these classes in the same building, or at least in buildings close to each other? Is there somewhere you can grab some food in between classes?
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:10 |

It's gotta be a wrap.

Not four, but last semester I had an hour-long class ending five minutes before a 3-hour lab. Ended up abandoning the lab after the first three or four meetings and still got a B in it because, even in only a couple classes, the professor got to a point where I just got a 100 every time I printed something because I was the only one of his students who had seen Autocad before. He was actually understanding of my boredom and just sort of let me finish early, or something like that.
No idea why I bring this up since it's pretty irrelevant to your situation.

that's what i was thinking...
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:11 |

It's doable and if they are all back to back that usually means that some of your days are free! Which is always helpful. So you wan't to be an accountant, can you do my taxes?
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:12 |

I have 3 in a row now, which isn't to bad, but it's between meals which makes it way easier. There's nothing worse than a horribly boring class on an empty stomach.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:12 |

Interesting. I don't see that being a tough schedule, but it's really up to you. Make sure you pack a snack. A clif bar and some sunflower seeds should get you through.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:13 |

That is odd. Maybe it has changed since I've been in school?
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:13 |

Better than short breaks filled with the temptation to skip, though. All it takes is one boring class, then ten minutes with Netflix, and then the day is over early and you fail everything.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:14 |

Nope, corporate finance. I want to work in the finance department of one of the auto makers. And I would kill myself if I had to do taxes for the rest of my days...

Yeah I did 5 years of that and working full time. You can do it, and have time to relax.

Then you are better off than having three, count'em three social science degrees. They taught me how to write and that's about it.

TOTALLY doable. Is that your whole schedule for the semester? Twice a week? Finals might be tough but you can do this for sure. That's not a bad start time and it's a great end time. The key to success, in my opinion, would be this:
Be certain to get a good breakfast in before that 10:00a
Stay entirely organized. There's going to be overlap between those classes
Don't procrastinate. Get as much work done as early as you can.
Sorry if that sounds preachy. I'm on campus from 8:30 to 8:30 T/R this semester and having a great semester while working MWF. If I can do it, you definitely can. What school?
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:18 |

The most I've ever had was three in a row. They were all 50 minute classes though.
Don't have any classes too early in the day. Last semester I got lucky and Management Information Systems was a joke class so I didn't go to class much and still got an A, but this semester, waking up at 8AM for Physics has been terrible.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:20 |

I've had four 50 minute classes in a row. Have to say though that I really dislike the hour and fifteen minute classes. Good luck with it though.

You can do it! I did my last two years just Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a full course load. You'll have 2 days of work and 5 days to do other things instead of 5 days of work and 2 days to do other things.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:21 |

it is doable, but be prepared to hate life when you have exams that are back to back to back. The only reprise might be the finals schedule where you can go and reschedule some when you have more than two on the same day, at least that is how it works at my university.
If you have a hard time staying focused for that long, or are bad at preparing well in advance for exams I wouldn't take this schedule. Just make sure you realize what you will be doing to your self with that load and schedule and be prepared for coinciding exams.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:23 |

I also have one class on MWF. But its just a 100 level gen ed so it shouldnt be too bad. And I go to GVSU, the biggest school nobody has heard of!
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:27 |

The hell? 25,000 students and I had to Google it. That's bizarre. Well, I hope you go for it. School, work, and all that good stuff is about momentum - and this would be one way to get it. Although going to that first class will be tough knowing the rest of your day kind of sucks.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:27 |

All the classes are relatively close, so getting there wont be an issue. But getting food between classes will be tough.

I was an accounting major in college and I had 2 semesters with 4-5 classes back to back. It sucked but it was do-able. I just made sure that I stayed organized, put all my assignment due dates on a calendar, and always brought snacks since I usually didn't have time for lunch. Those classes were all my important "major"classes and those 2 semesters were my best grades.

Those were all Tues/Thurs and my Mon/Wed/Fri were all open for school work. I also had a job with our Intramural Sports program as well while all this was going on.

Brown bag it. You'll at least save money on food.
I have three classes, every thursday that makes this a walk in the park
FILM 8:30-11
TVDM 11:30-2
TVDM 2:30-5
The first two classes are in the same room, with the same professor. I have to get up and move across the room for the second class because I can't stand the monotony of staying in the corner. By the time you get to your second class, I've finally gotten my breakfast of raisin bran, and am settling in for another 2.5 hours in Pro Tools 11. Good thing it's what I want to be doing as a career, otherwise it would be hell. But by 5pm, I'm drooling, brain-dead in my chair waiting to see my gf (thursday is also date night, where we have dinner and i proceed to fall asleep on the couch).
If you enjoy the classes, then it will be simple, and you wont have any trouble. If you can't sit through any of the classes, see if any are offered as a summer class. Take it when you wont have as many distractions so you can focus on it. I wish I did this, but my situation is different from yours, so there's that. I don't know about your campus, but where I go, finals are scattered around, so you wont generally worry about taking them back to back. Just look very early so you can work out conflicts quickly if they happen.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we are by far the largest school in DII. And it has had some pretty huge growth the last 10 years or so. I meant it when I said its the largest school nobody has heard of. Were like 3rd or 4th largest in the state and not everyone here even knows about us.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:34 |

yeah it's possible. Sucks but possible. pack some granola bars or something to snack on between classes. the 2pms are killers.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:36 |

Doable. In the time between some classes, maybe FIN 320, take the time to grab lunch for sure. You'll need it.
I have a class from 3:30-6:15 pm (two class blocks) and then another at 6:30-10:15 pm. It sucks very much but sometimes I get out early and have time for a decent dinner.
If you get all those classes done in one day, you'll be so set for the week. The day (or two) you have these four classes in a row will suck, but just duke it out and you'll have an extraordinary amount of free time and you won't have to worry about what to do during those "fake" free times (i.e. the 1.5 hour time period between two classes - at least I find these super hard to be productive during).

in my last few years of college, I used to take over 20 credits each term in order to graduate early. I always found that sleeping in was more beneficial to me than spacing my classes out.
and then I graduated and joined the real world, where many employers would rather have you work specific hours than be more productive during the same number of hours on your own schedule.
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:44 |

I'd take five in a row if I could go back to undergrad again!
![]() 03/11/2014 at 23:46 |

You probably won't retain as much information in your last two classes as you will your first. Usually not a problem, just expect to study a bit more for them.
The other thing is you have no real break for lunch. This type of schedule killed me for that reason alone. A few snacks wouldn't cut it for me, I need a real meal to fuel my mind! All you can think about is how hungry you are, which takes away your focus from class curriculum.

I've never done 4 classes back to back (or even 3), but if that prevents you from taking summer classes or an extra semester, go for it.

it will work. you may want to cry, but it will work, and someday when your rich and edjumacated you will appreciate it... good luck sir and kill that shit

It depends on the classes, and quite frankly, the professor.
I found that if I had good professors, I would do this schedule while I was at GT. Class 3x a week, homework/Fallout 3/Mass Effect 2x a week.
Kind of mimics how the work world works.

i had taken 5 classes back to back for 2 semesters. No big deal. So long as you think you are able to handle having 5 different subjects. Its a personal thing. I feel it worked better for me cause it kept me in the groove from highschool. 8am-3pm.
And on another note, make sure you like chilling in your car, cause if one or both of the middle classes cancel, then you have some free time on hand.
Last tip: SHOW UP TO CLASS. thats pretty much the best tip i can give you.

can I transfer? I'm just doing one major and it's so impacted it will take be 5 years to finish
